"Carabus Hispanus"- Entomology Collection
Project type
Painting's
Date
Spring/Summer 25
Location
Cheshire
This painting was inspired by my trips to Liverpool Museum's Entomology department. I wanted to really encapsulate the beauty in insects that is often overlooked. Im facinated by the surface textures, patterns and colours found on this Carabus Hispanus, I tried to emphesise these elements by using Gesso to create the initial exoskeleton texure, I then went in with Acrylic and Retarder to create thin layers that I was able to knock back and build up easily. To finish I used Water Soluble Crayon to add some more vivid highlights of colour and emphesis. This is available to purchase as a Giclee print in A4!
